Is it Mandatory to Know Swimming for Snorkeling or Scuba Diving

All of us want some adventure in our life. Life should be adventurous and enjoyable. We all know, there are many adventurous and exciting activities. There are lots of activities on land, in the air and in water.

As we talk about water activities, we must talk about snorkeling and scuba diving in India.
One of the most common questions that come into the mind of a person wanting to try scuba diving or snorkeling is: “I don’t know how to swim – can I try scuba diving?”

The answer is yes.

To get certified as a diver, you need to know basic swimming (ability to float or tread water for 10 min, swim 200m unaided/300m with mask-fins snorkel).

However, to do introductory scuba diving in India, through a PADI Discover Scuba Diving program, swimming is not required.

This program is designed to give people a taste of scuba. There is a dive professional in the water with you at all times, who is responsible for your safety during the program.

The instructor does handle your safety during the DSD program which is organized in a location and under conditions that are safe and predictable.

Snorkeling can be conducted through a life buoy or safety jacket that helps you stay afloat at all time. A certified snorkeling guide is there with you all the time to guarantee your safety and guidance at the surface.

If you wish to explore deep seas or be a certified diver in India, you need to know swimming to join the certification courses for recreational diving. These are designed for people who want to take up this amazing sport in a more in-depth manner, and who want to keep exploring the oceans in different parts of the world.

There are many PADI, SSI or CMAS certified dive centers in India that conduct programs for scuba diving. Important to remember is if these schools are actually registered with PADI, SSI or CMAS to ensure quality control through the certifying agency.

Dive centers who have their own Dive Resort or Dive Center Number are registered with their Agency, who in turn can check them on quality control and procedures.

Andaman and Nicobar islands are like a hotspot for scuba diving in India. When searching for good scuba centers, Scubalov is one of the best options to choose from.

Scubalov is a PADI and SSI Dive Centre located in the remote Andaman Islands of Havelock and Neil, India. They provide the best scuba diving in Andaman & Mumbai, India. They offer both recreational scuba courses for swimmers and introductory dives for nonswimmers.
